Longmont is a city located north of Denver in the state of Colorado.
The city is located mostly in Boulder County with a small section of the city in Weld County.

Longmont was founded in 1871 by a group of Chicagoans who had decided to found a new town in Colorado.
Originally called the Chicago-Colorado Colony, the men sold memberships in the town and with the proceeds purchased the land necessary for the town.
Longmont was named an "All-America City" by the National Civic League in June 2006.
As of 2006, the population of Longmont was 85,000.
The city was named #50 best place to live on Money Magazines' top 100 places to live.
